About Us
Each year, the Madison Ridgeland Youth Club “MRYC” softball organization offers fall and spring leagues for athletes ages 5-18. Over the years, our softball organization has developed a reputation for providing high quality competition in a friendly, supportive environment. The cities of Madison and Ridgeland generously offer our organization the use of first class softball facilities at Liberty Park in Madison and at Freedom Ridge Park and Hite Wolcott Park in Ridgeland. MRYC’s softball leagues regularly include athletes from not only the Madison-Ridgeland area, but from a wide variety of communities in Madison County, Hinds County, Rankin County, and beyond.
Prior to beginning the fall and spring seasons, MRYC Softball offers a free skills clinic and a free pitching clinic to all interested registrants. Recently, response to these clinics has been very strong we have enjoyed a terrific turnout for both clinics. We are also planning to offer additional clinics to enhance the level of play in our leagues and introduce more athletes to methods of general athletic and skill-specific development taught by professionals around the country. MRYC Softball also participates each year in the hosting of the M&F Classic, usually in March, at which local high school teams compete before the main event – an SEC softball game featuring the University of Mississippi against Mississippi State University. The M&F Classic has become a wonderful tradition in the Madison-Ridgeland community and we look forward to participating in it each year.
MRYC Softball also administers the “MRYC Motion” set of tournament teams that successfully compete in local, regional, and national softball tournaments. This year, MRYC Motion teams enjoyed wide success across a number of age divisions. We organized and hosted a highly successful, large scale softball tournament that included teams from all over Mississippi, Louisiana, and Alabama. The tournament, called the “MRYC Motion School’s Out Bash” was held at Freedom Ridge Park and Hite Wolcott Park in late May, 2008 and we look forward to hosting the event again this year.
MRYC Softball has recently made a number of investments to enhance the services we offer to our community. With assistance from the City of Ridgeland and a number of volunteers and generous contributors, we recently installed a new set of batting cages at Hite Wolcott Park in Ridgeland. In addition, we contracted with US Networx, a local provider, to design a completely new and interactive website that will allow significantly better coordination with our softball community. The new website will have all the latest features available on custom, professionally designed websites and will offer online registration for future leagues. In the future, we hope to provide funding and other resources necessary for significant upgrades of facilities at Freedom Ridge Park, Hite Wolcott Park, and Liberty Park.
